Welcome to the website of St Jude’s Mission, an Anglican Church in Huntersville, NC. We worship together at 9:15 AM on Sunday mornings in the sanctuary of Huntersville ARP Church. Our service is one of Word and Sacrament. This means that we join the historic church (The Church catholic, meaning universal) in prioritizing the Word of God read aloud and preached and the weekly remembrance of the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion). While this may be different than what you’re accustomed to you will be joining in Spirit with approximately 85 million Anglican Christians across the world in a pattern of worship consistent with some of the earliest expressions of Christianity.
Come as you like. Some people dress up, some people wear jeans.
A nursery is available for our infants and preschool children. We also welcome children in the service if you prefer.
After our service we invite you to enjoy coffee and refreshments in union with Huntersville ARP church.
We look forward to meeting you!
Clay Thompson, Rector
The Rector serves as Senior Clergy for St. Jude’s Mission. Clay is the planting pastor of St Jude’s. He is married to Marlene and has four children. A graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, NC and ordained as a priest in the Anglican Church in Rwanda, he has been serving in ministry in some capacity for the last 20 years.
The leadership of St. Jude’s Mission is governed by a Vestry. Its role is to support the Rector and to attend to the administrative affairs of the Church. The presiding officer of the Vestry is the Rector. There are two members elected from the parishioners who serve as the Senior and the Junior Warden, representing the clergy and the people respectively.
St Jude’s Mission is a Christian Church rooted in the catholic and reformed tradition of the Anglican Church, a global communion of nearly 85 million Christians worldwide. At St Jude’s we seek to contend in truth and love for the faith once delivered to the saints. We are a part of the Diocese of the Carolinas and the emerging province of The Anglican Church of North America (ACNA). We hold the Word of God to be what it says it is, God – breathed, and the final authority for all matters of life and faith. The Historic creeds (Apostles Creed, Nicene Creed and Athanasian Creed) and the Thirty Nine Articles summarize the faith in its historic and contemporary expressions.
St Jude’s Mission is a Biblical, Historical, Prayerful and Missional effort to contend for the faith once delivered to the saints in truth and love through the planting of mission minded churches initiated through evangelism.
- Biblical: The Word of God, the Christian Bible inspired by God and passed down to us, is God’s perfect rule for our life and faith. We must contend for the faith as delivered to us in the Word of God!
- Historical: Our God is the God of history and an understanding of his work throughout history is critical to our knowledge of Him. We must understand and appreciate the history of the Christian faith if we are to contend for it.
- Prayerful: I believe that we must work to re-establish the priority of prayer in our private and corporate Christian life. Perhaps as we return to repentance and prayer, God in his mercy will train our ear to his whisper and pour out a blessing of faithfulness upon His people.
- Missional: “The harvest is plentiful”, said Jesus, “but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest field” [Luke 10:2]. I believe that we need to recall the ‘sent one’s’ perspective of the faith once delivered, claiming the authority given us by Christ, and take the gospel to our families, friends, schools, neighborhoods and places of work.
We are an Anglican Church in Huntersville, nestled between Lake Norman and the city of Charlotte, NC.
St Jude’s Mission (SJM) is a Christian Church fully connected to the Anglican Communion (ACNA), which is the third largest expression of global Christianity totaling nearly 85 million people worldwide. We are a small part of a larger and determined effort to uphold the beauty and authority of the Bible as the Word of God. Enjoying a rich history of liturgical worship and working toward a fruitful future of Christian discipleship we have set out to be a Church zealous for God and the Great Commission. May God be glorified in the work of His Church!
